Itinerary

Day 1: Depart USA
Day 2: Kilimanjaro/Arusha
After clearing all formalities at Kilimanjaro Airport we will drive to Arusha Mountain Village (38 miles). Set against
the backdrop of the wooded slopes of Mount Meru, this village-styled lodge stands amid coffee plantations on the
shores of Lake Duluti and has been styled to echo the ambience of the coffee farm that originally stood on this site.
Standing at the gateway to the famous Tanzanian ‘Northern Safari Circuit’.
Arusha Mountain Village
Day 3: Lake Manyara
Depart from Arusha Mountain Village and drive to the Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge, which stands on a cliff
high above the lake and national park. After lunch, take a game drive in the National Park which lies at the base of
the western wall of the eastern arm of the Rift Valley. Typically shimmering in a golden heat haze, the lake is often
frosted with thousands of flamingos, while the trees that surround the lake are famous for their tree-climbing lions.
The park also offers abundant sightings of; monkey, jackal, mongoose, hyena, hyrax, zebra, hippo, warthog, buffalo,
Masai giraffe, duiker, waterbuck and impala. Significant numbers of elephant are also resident in the Park whilst
sightings of black rhino and leopard are not uncommon. Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 4: Ngorongoro via Olduvai Gorge
Leaving the lodge after breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area via Olduvai Gorge the ‘cradle
of mankind’, and site of one of the most important and controversial Paleolithic finds in recent history. Ascend the
steep walls of the crater and drive around the rim, upon which is located the magnificent Ngorongoro Serena Safari
Lodge. After lunch at the lodge, visit a traditional Maasai village or ‘boma’. In the evening, watch the sunset over
the crater from your private verandah, perhaps take a short stroll around the grounds, then enjoy cocktails on the
panoramic crater view terrace before sitting down to dinner in the stone built dining room, which centers on a blazing log fire. Ngorongoro Serena Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, drive the short distance to the crater and descend to its floor for a half-day tour inclusive
of a picnic lunch by the hippo pools. Often referred to as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’ the Ngorongoro Crater is
one of Africa’s best-known wildlife arenas. A World Heritage Site, it is also one of the largest volcanic craters in the
world. An utterly unique biosphere, the Crater harbors grasslands, swamps, forests, saltpans, a fresh water lake and a glorious variety of birdlife, all enclosed within its towering walls. Due to its high concentration of wildlife, closerange viewing opportunities and striking scenery it is also Tanzania’s most visited destination. In the afternoon, ascend once more to the rim of the crater and the lodge, where you may like to take a massage or a guided walk before dinner. Ngorongoro Serena Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 6: Arusha/Nairobi
This morning we drive to Arusha for early lunch. After lunch we continue our journey to Nairobi via the Namanga

Day 7: Nairobi
After breakfast we get to visit Daphne Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Giraffe Center and Kazuri Beads, enjoying lunch at

Day 8: Mount Kenya
After breakfast we head north. to With magnificent views of majestic Mount Kenya, the Fairmont Mount Kenya
Safari Club Resort’s luxuriously appointed hotel rooms offer a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure.
Originally the retreat of movie star and Club founder, William Holden, the Club’s illustrious former members have
included Winston Churchill and Bing Crosby. Afternoon is free to play a round of golf, visit the animal orphanage,

Day 9: Mount Kenya
After breakfast we visit Solio Ranch. The Game Ranch has large numbers of black and white rhino, leopard, lion,
cheetah, giraffe, zebra, colobus and vervet monkey and plenty of other wildlife. Afternoon is free to enjoy at the

Day 10: Lake Nakuru
After breakfast we drive through Aberdares Mountain range and the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park once
described by American ornithologist Roger Tory-Peterson as “the most fabulous bird spectacle in the world.” The
park and its lake play host to lesser flamingos and species of animals, including lion, leopard, rhino and hyena.
After lunch we enjoy an afternoon game drive. Lion Hill Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 11 & 12: Masai Mara Game Reserve
Sarova Mara Game Camp is located in the heart of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in South West Kenya. This will
be our base for the next 2 nights. Sarova Mara Game Camp is set on an elevation surrounded by two streams. The
Camp is uniquely laid out over the sprawling grounds that include rolling manicured greens, a virtual mini forest of
indigenous shrubs and exotic trees, a large pond stocked with fish, mini bird sanctuary and an authentic Maasai
Village adjoining the Camp. Sarova Mara Game Camp (B,L,D)
Day 13: Nairobi
After breakfast we drive to Nairobi in time for lunch. Afternoon is free to rest or shop. (B,L,D)
Day 14: Arrive home!

The *David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust *is a small flexible charity, established in memory of David Sheldrick, famous Naturalist and founder Warden of Kenya’s giant Tsavo East National Park. Since its inception in 1977 the Trust has played an extremely significant and important role in Kenya’s conservation effort. Helping save the lives of orphaned Elephants and Rhinos who are ultimately released back into the wild is just some of the many wildlife commitments The David Sheldrick Wild-life Trust is involved in. The Trust runs seven full time desnaring teams, two mobile Veterinary Units, and is active in a Community Outreach Program along with working with the communities in an educational capacity local-ly, and through articles for the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya, the Press and Radio Programs. The Trust has also provided advanced training in wildlife management for promising students.
