Green Visions

Green Visions is an independent outdoor adventure organization based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Founded in 2000, Green Visions’ unique blend of environmental activism, responsible eco-tourism and community development has made it a leading authority on the need for an environmentally focused approach to sustainable development in BiH.

Since its’ establishment, Green Visions has pioneered the movement in creating the vision and action plan for eco-tourism development coupled with sound environmental practices. We have remained loyal to our ecological principles while pursuing sustainable means of growth. Green Visions has received media attention, both nationally and internationally for:

• Providing over 2,000 safe, unique, and professionally guided eco, walking, rafting, mountain biking, and insightful cultural tours to the most wild and pristine areas of BiH
• Pioneering Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first eco-tourism and environmental protection organization
• Writing the first English language travel guide to Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Training for youth in tour & mountain guiding, responsible & eco tourism, ecology and the importance of environmental awareness.

The credibility and accessibility of Green Visions’ activities has made the organization popular across a broad cross-section of society, from government and national institutions to media, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), the international community, environmentalists, students, and tourists.

The Vision
Our vision is to see the wilderness of Bosnia and Herzegovina preserved through both the establishment of legal frameworks and enforcement mechanisms, and through the raising of public awareness and respect for the environment and the vital need for ecological balance. We believe that alternative means of development is key to the sustainability of BiH’s traditional highland life and the eco-systems that sustain them. Green Visions holds ecological awareness as the priority in sustainable development be it in eco-tourism, organic farming, medicinal herbs, handicrafts, forestry, wood-production, livestock and other economic endeavours.
