Updates

Since 1998, we’ve built our business with a combination of vision, people and experience. To this day it is the combination of “what we do” and “who we are” that makes Alaska Alpine Adventures. We are quite simply a group of explorers and naturalists sharing with our guests the incredible beauty of Alaska – the Great Land.

Alaska Alpine Adventures offers multi day Wilderness and Multisport adventure trips throughout Alaska, with a focus on Alaska’s National Parks and Wildlife Refuges. From Backpacking in Lake Clark National Park to River Rafting in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge – we have a passion for exploring Alaska and sharing it’s vastness and diversity with our guests!

National Geographic Traveler Magazine’s 2010 Tours of a Lifetime – May 2010
National Geographic Traveler Magazine has recognized Alaska Alpine Adventure’s Twin Lakes Paddle trip as one of our 50 Tours of a Lifetime! The selection process was competitive and our editorial team worked long and hard to find 2010’s most authentic, most innovative, most immersive, best-guided, and most sustainable tours. “The outfitters we selected have responded to travelers looking for more meaning and context,” notes senior editor Norie Quintos, who headed up the project. “And beyond guiding you to the destination, they’ve also found novel ways to give back.”

Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth – February 2009
National Geographic Adventure
For the second time in as many years, we’ve conducted an unprecedented survey of adventure travel companies, based on the idea that a traveler’s most important decision is not always where to go but who to go with. For the 2009 edition, we spoke to more guide services—and their clients—than ever before.

Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth – March 2008
We’re proud to announce that Alaska Alpine Adventures has been selected by the great folks at National Geographic Adventure magazine as one of the “Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth” for 2008. Not only is this great news for our company, it is great news for the adventure travel industry at large. Using a comprehensive 30-question survey and client interviews, a panel of National Geographic Adventure editors and travel experts generated a score for each operator in the following 5 categories – Education, Sustainability, Quality of Service, Spirit of Adventure, and client satisfaction. Our overall score of 97.7 gave us an overall ranking of 10th!

48 Trips of a Lifetime – Outside Magazine – December 2004
We’re excited to announce that our Powder, Steeps, & Glaciers itinerary has been included as one of Outside Magazine’s “48 Trips of a Lifetime” in their March, 2004 Issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Small Groups: The best way to witness the Last Frontier! Our wilderness trips are limited to 8-guests and our multi-sport tours are capped at 12. And with a guest to guide ratio of 4:1 (6:1 for our multi-sport tours) you are assured of our commitment to risk management and safe operations.

Destinations: All of our trips originate in Anchorage or, in some cases, Fairbanks. Getting to Anchorage or Fairbanks is a snap. Alaska Airlines, your travel agent, or the carrier of your choice can easily arrange roundtrip airfare from the lower 48. All of our adventures include internal flights and transportation beyond their originating cities.

Once you land in Anchorage or Fairbanks, your adventure really begins. For our wilderness-based trips, you’ll find that the areas we visit won’t be found on any road map; out here there aren’t any roads. Access to these areas is limited to air travel. When flying within Alaska, be sure to have your camera at the ready, as all of our flights provide passage into and over the vast wilderness of Alaska. Call us for details.
Our Alaska Multisport Tours originate from Anchorage and take us to some of the highlights along Alaska’s highly scenic road system. Denali, Wrangell St. Elias, and Kenai Fjords National Parks have gateway communities connected to the drivable roads and our spacious vans with enclosed trailers allow us to travel Alaska’s spectacular network of highways and byways in comfort.

Emergency Procedures
AAA and our guides follow strict emergency protocols and procedures. Our guides are all current Wilderness First Responders (at a minimum). Additionally, they will be carrying a satellite phone when in the wilderness and handheld radios and cell phones on our Alaska Multisport Tours . Your guide will conduct a thorough orientation to help familiarize you with these policies, protocols, and procedures.

All clients of Alaska Alpine Adventures, LLC, are required to complete and sign a liability release, client profile form, and acknowledgment of risk prior to trip departure. Please see our Adventure Information Packet for details.
